Sometimes I pick up on strange little details while out in the world. I can be out for a walk, just randomly wandering around some little town on the other side of the country, and then I'll stumble across something unusual. In this case, it was right under my feet.
Dare I suggest that there was a railroad running right through here, and then someone paved over it? I can't think of anything else which could look like this and would give this same nifty vanishing point effect.
I walked that whole street and it keeps going pretty much like that until there's an obvious place where they resurfaced more recently. Of course, if there really are rails down there, I suppose it's just a matter of time before the new surface is packed down and they start showing through that as well.
Some bits of history are hard to hide, I guess.
